Attitude flying
« on: May 12, 2014, 01:08:33 PM »
:airplane:  Back in the "day", so to speak, there was always a big discussion between the Navy and Air force methods of teaching attitude instrument flying!  One taught that the throttle controlled ___________ and the other taught the elevator's controlled ____________________! Comments?

If so, the former was correct.
Some say revenge is a dish best served cold. I say it's usually best served hot, chunky, and foaming. Eventually, you will all die in my vengeance vomit firestorm.

Throttle for descent, pitch for speed

 vs

Pitch for dissent throttle for speed.

I very much use pitch for speed throttle for alt when vfr on the RV.

IFR been trying to learn the opposite with the Cherokee.

:airplane: You sir, are correct! We had a DC-3 in a VA program at Peachtree-DeKalb back in the 70's and of course we had a lot of airline pilots, fresh out of the two different branches of service and they used to drive me crazy with the difference in which the two services taught this. Trying to get a guy ready for a ATP check ride was always included a conversation with the FAA GADO guy about which way they were trained. It really only mattered on the "oral" exam, don't think they could tell the difference in flight.
