This is a great discussion! Let's just say it hits close to home, as someone close to me struggles with the same desire to consistently escape reality. My perspective is this: If you LIKE to do it, it's an AID, or just for fun, that's completely fine. The only time it gets concerning is when you just "can't make it through the day" without a drink to take the edge off. To me, that's a sign of dependency, and a bit of booze is fine, but personally I don't want to be dependent on anything.

Hmmm... A name like serenity and it hits close to home? I'll give you my birthday: 2/10/1991... And yet I'm 50 years old. How can this be?

Anyway, I'm with you. I got off the judgment wagon a while back. These guys need to figure it out for themselves.

Alcohol never took the edge off for me
If I'm in a bad mood and I get drunk I just get in a worse mood
Plenty of my friends have plenty of voicemails to attest to this
Honestly the only thing that tends to put me in a somewhat better mood is marijuana

The primary reason I drink is just that sometimes "40 ounces of social skills" helps me be in the moment haha

Bulls 92!  :rock

what did the crowd like more, turning over the cars, girls boobies, or the cops retreating?

Must suck to be a cop in that position.

We retreated. We never should have been led into that mess to begin with. And yes it is very scarey to be wearing a uniform in a crazed drunken crowd knowing full well they could tear you to pieces and theres nothing you could do about it. The next year they over turned a squad with the guys in it and we couldnt fight our way to them.

The problem with mobs is they give anonymity to kids who are so drunk they are literally ripping their clothes off in the street and tearing autos to pieces. I have been in the unpleasant situation of being in the middle of a mob to many times in my life.

But the real danger of booze is within the family. A person really needs to know his limits and be honest with themselves.

And I honestly love Beer. :D I like a belt or two after a hard day.

You're still in Iowa right?  We should get a little meeting set up for the Iowegians.

I'm in Nebraska for the time being. Schedule it when I'm off of work and I'll ride my bike out there

I love my beer but I don't like to be out of control.  I will NOT drink and drive, I will NOT drink during a working day, and I always quit before I get a case of the stupids.  I've quit before just to test my dependency on it and the only thing that bugged me was I had a small bit of trouble going to sleep at night for a couple of days.  If you can handle it you can handle it if you can't you can't.  It's that simple to me

I love beer, especially craft beer... ales, lagers, porters, stouts, IPAs, hefe weizen, you name it. I don't like the mass produced light beers as I find the taste too bland, boring and devoid of character. In my opinion, if I'm going to drink anything, I would rather drink something I enjoy.

I drink anywhere from 2-6 beers per week. Once every few months I may get with some friends and family and drink 4-8 beers in one night and get boozed up.

I have been recently drinking Boddington's Pub Ale. To me it is like cake in a glass.

Indeed. Me neither.
