Hunters
« on: May 16, 2014, 12:59:41 PM »
Got any hunters in here? I practically make my living guiding duck hunts here in Arkansas. I typically tag out on deer every season. I like to keep my freezer full of deer. Its a family staple. Sure I can go buy meat but not as clean and pure as deer. I also run coon dogs and a trap line. Outdoors is a way of life for me. Any others share my passion?

We have property in south Arkansas and duck leases in Humphrey as well as Wabbaseka. Waterfowl in general is definitely my favorite!  :aok

No kidding? My uncle used to farm in Humphrey, lived there until he died. Did yall have a decent season? Our first part and last part were epic. December however kicked my rear for me. We locked up, birds left. I hunt mainly rice so a lock up makes it tough.

I'm getting my trail cams ready for the season as I type this. Gonna put some up tomorrow. I primarily archery hunt these guys, but mule deer also if the shot presents itself. I may do some grouse hunting this year. I think I have more fun with the trail cams than the actual hunts at this point. They get me out in the woods weekly to check the weeks activity. Last year I got hundreds of good pics, and some good video including cougar videos and lots of black bear as well.

I have lots more pics if anyone wants to see them.

Ive been hunting since I was a kid. Been blessed to have hunted quite a lot in a lot of places for a lot of things. Everything from squirrel to running bird dogs to waterfowl to Africa game to Elk BLK bear, caribou, and to many white tails to count. Ive slowed down in recent years and have gotten much choosier about who I hunt with.

I go deer and turkey hunting, both in the fall. Iv'e got a friend who's dad owns some land way out to the west of where I live, it's a 2 hour drive but it's worth it. Definitely a great hunting spot. Iv'e taken 2 deer out there but no turkey yet. What annoys me the most is that I never see turkey out there but I hear them all the time.

One day a big fat wild turkey will be on my thanksgiving table.  :bhead

Passion?  No.  Enjoy hunting?  Yes.  I hunt antelope, deer, pheasant, and coyotes on a regular basis.  Im not much of a waterfowl guy, I tried it and it just wasn't fun for me. Ditto with turkey hunting.  I would like to go hog huntin' someday though.

Same goes for fishin'.  I usually take a 4-5 trip to Canada or Montana every year just to get away.
