OT: Visiting DFW area
« on: May 29, 2014, 12:28:53 PM »
Hey:

I'm visiting the DFW area tomorrow (Friday) to look at an RV-8 for sale,  and need to kill a few hours before flying back.  Can anyone recommend anything aviation-related to do?  I'm flying SWA, and my appointment is north of Ft Worth.  Thanks!

You're on a tough side of Ft Worth for anything aviation-related that you can actually get close to.

However, if you land at Love Field and have a rental car, you are about 20 mins from the Cavanaugh Flight museum at the Addison Airport.  It will take you 1 hour min to see everything in the museum if you stop and read the signs on the aircraft.

From there you are 1 1/2 hours from N Ft worth (due to traffic)

I second that recommendation.  Cavanaugh Flight museum is where you want to go.  There are tons of restaurants nearby too.

Flying SWA... you should be landing at Dallas - Love.

Cavanaugh is the place to go for some great WW II things.

Also, right at Love field is the Frontiers of Flight Museum

I've not been there so can't tell you yes or no on it..

Hmm.. looking at an RV8 for sale.. HiTech selling his now?  :airplane:

Might be worth it to check out the vintage flying museum in saginaw (north ft worth area). FiFi's hanger sister, Diamond Lil; is suppose to be there until June 5th. The museum itself is pretty small but how often do you get a chance to walk around a flying example of an early B24?

Good luck on your purchase attempt!
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.
