i'm split on this--i gv-wirbs tanks-etc---but i also fly--bomb strafe gv's wirbs tanks etc....and the range to see a gv used to greater--and wirb-osti's had faster turret speed..so if they increase visual range plane to gv--then they would have to change the turret speed of said wirb-osti---or they could leave it as it is.

Leave the icon range when GV is parked, increase it when its in motions.

Due to the repetitive nature of the terrain I have a hard time finding it for my straffing run.

I always hated GVs with passion. Sometimes I would spend my precious gaming minutes just to take a 1800lb Stuka and drop it on a lone ostwirble. You know, so he could really feel the love.  :joystick:

:rofl You know they have treatment for obsessions now. :D

This could be very controversial but.....

If Hitech would program such that when stopped, while hiding your vehicle under or in a certain amount of trees or brush, will disable your red Icon from being seen by enemy aircraft. You would have somewhat of your wish. Either some amount of contact with the brush or a minimum of two trees close together that you pull your vehicle under between them. Once you start moving, your icon lights back up. So watch your peddle calibration for spikes.

From an IL2 and Ju87-G2 perspective, this would cause many pilots to loose track of their target and even cause them to give up searching. As is now, I can keep an eye on my targets under the thickest trees because some part of the red icon always shows through. Giving GV's a way to hide that disables the icon from the air would remove some amount of frustration about being bombed. Heck even make it happen if the GV hides under the supply truck bridges or the town bridges over the moat or in a barn. Even that tower in town with the drive through arch at it's base.

In theory this would make it harder for low level carpet bombing right off the end of the runway against the spawn. Or, the Storch and GV's would have to work together with the bomber pilot to lay out smoke in meaningful ways. I've lain an orange line of smoke once for a 10k carpet bombing against a spawn. I got shot down but, the buff box I called in wiped out most of the GV I marked with their bomb carpet.

I'd love to see what happens when you fire a cannon from under a huge pile of straws. Sure, burying your tank underground also makes it invisible, but it also makes it blind, immobile, and unable to fire.

Most of the GV bombing is happening against GVs attacking an "A" field. Planes with ordnance that bother to fly to a "V" base normally drop it on the structures, not on the tanks. In the rare cases that a Bomber is flown to a "V" base with the intent to bomb GVs, I bet that it is a player that got blasted in his GV last sortie and is seeking revenge.

It is simple: bring a vehicle to an air field => expect to be bombed. If that does not suit you, come in a plane or stay away from the "A" fields.

What are the various ranges?

when parked, the GV icon is approximately 600 yards.  While the gv is moving the icon range is approximately 1200 yards.

Unless, of course, you're in a Storch.  THEN the ranges are roughly double that.

It REALLY pays to have a countryman in a Storch mark the targets with smoke or at least verify where they are at.

Oh, and another thing: gv icons can be hidden if they are parked under a tree.

Some of you guys need to read the update notes more closely.   ;)
