Germany was actually going to rescue Mussolini with their first helicopter, but mechanical problems kept it from being used in the rescue.  The Storch was quickly adapted for the mission.
Currently ignoring Vraciu as he is a whoopeeed retard.

Don't mind the first few seconds of this video, the remaining footage is of authentic German WWII military helicopters.  I had no idea they were so advanced in helo technology.
