Just to clarify - it's not Early Access you would be buying into for Elite - its Standard Beta!  It is by no means a finished game and still has some glitches, so don't expect it to be perfect!  Too many are coming into E: D expecting it to be a finished game and then demanding their money back (non-starter!) because it doesn't meet their high expectations - yet!  Just remember it is a beta and that there will be problems, and just enjoy it for what it is during this testing phase.  Don't worry too much about losing ships etc, as everything will be wiped anyway when the Gamma version is released.   :aok  :D

Oh I understand....the same can be said for the IL2 Early Access (i.e. it's in beta, stuff is still missing, stuff that is there needs lots of polish, etc).

I wasn't going to pay $150 for Alpha, but I might do $75 for the Beta.  I have multiplayer access in SC now though, so will have to be bored of that first.

If you're updating hardware, be aware that new Nvidia GPUs are coming in October which will have a downward effect on prices of current gear.  Depends on how long you want to wait of course.  And the truism that there's always something over the horizon.  But that is more correct at some times than others if you take price into consideration (prices are static for months and then drop a bit ahead of releases, and even more after them).

I like Star Citizen personally. The amount of Dev content put out by the studio's every week is crazy.

Got into the new beta about a week ago... and am LOVING it.  Looking forward bigtime to see other features implemented, mainly the "exploration" portion... that is what I want to "do" in this game!
Great to hear you are loving E: D  - if you are interested in exploring, things are already being organised for The First Great Expedition, which I am also part of.  :D

10th mountain, I agree, I wasn't putting SC down, I love it so far, and have been having a blast in multiplayer now that they've fixed the rubber banding issues mostly.  I was lucky and got into the first batch of players for multiplayer - total blast.  I've always said HTC could have made a fortune if they made a space sim instead of the WW1 arena, based on the claw and mothership alone.  Had they made a Battlestar Galactica type of thing for a few bucks a month - RICH$$$.  50 million dollars in SC can't be wrong.

Anyhow, 10th is right, the amount of content coming from the Dev's as well as the members is incredible.  Absolutely incredible.  Elite is a different sort of deal, a different style of game, and IMO superior, but just at this point.  Who knows what SC will bring in the near future, but I'm a believer.

75$ right now for beta access in ED is a fantastic deal, as I said, I spent double that, and it's been well, well worth that, so anything less is a steal IMO.

I have an interest in this game. Is it hard to learn? Eve seemed to be.

I think in the Long run Chris Roberts will put out an amazing product. I have multiplayer access already, but I am waiting till I can customize my stick without messing with xml files before I play.

How did you miss the original Elite? Endless maps of repetitive frustration. Ok, maybe the new generation has evolved past that.

No harder than Aces High.  If anything was too simple it wouldn't be worth doing.  :)  Never played Eve so I can't compare it with that.  There's lots of information on the forums and thousands of videos on YouTube which are worth looking at to start with.  Then it's mainly practice.   :aok
