This Week in the AvA...
« on: September 12, 2014, 09:01:45 AM »
Gazala
The massed clashes of armour of the Gazala battles and the brave resistance of the Free French on the Allied flank at Bir Hachiem were not enough to stop Rommel, nick-named "The Desert Fox".  The Allies tried to bottle-up Rommel's panzers in "The Cauldron" and reduce them by aerial attack, but he was able to re-supply his forces and break out.  His attack outflanked the expensively-constructed Allied Gazala Line and resulted in a steady Allied retreat all the way back to El Alamein in Egypt, under the cover of an RAF aerial umbrella.

Thanks to everyone who attended. The Avengers and Ferrets made it feel like the "good old days" and the AvA staff and regulars really showed how cool this arena can be. I'm going to try and make the Monday night deal a regular thing. I look forward to seeing everyone next Monday

You can count us Avengers in for next Monday, we had a big time.  The aircraft were a perfect match up and we had us some good old fashioned, down and dirty in the weeds dog fights.  I managed to land some good Rat kills, but got my butt shot down on my last two sorties.  I do owe somebody for the free pass they gave me when I was on short final and all shot up at V-17; buzzed right past me as my wheels touched down.  <S>

:D .....always considered it a cheesy, cheap shot to tag someone as they are landing.

Had a great time last night!! Live the no icons. It sure does spice things up. It's a great game to advance your skills in SA and ACM. It's a lot of fun to set up attacks because they can't see you. Great match up of planes and great crowd last night

Do you think it was something you did or was it already broken when you logged in? Just curious as as a new cm I'm trying to learn the idiosyncrasies of the arena.

Best advice is to not leave things open-ended...

It wasn't so much as broken, it was just that I understand arena settings where I saw that the planesets were not consistant to every field on the terrain. In the end it was a matter of simply capturing a v-base so that all aircraft became available.

Now a few weeks back when Jaeger decided to go ahead and allow a free-for-all Tuesday is when I got the terrain to reset thus resetting the tables; meaning all previous settings out the window and I had myself a buffet of 163's in my 4-hog.  :devil "now that is breaking the arena"

During off hours, might as well leave protect objects on to help prevent goof-balls like me from giving you a headache...
