Looking for book recommendations

Hey folks, I've had very good luck in the past with your book recommendations, and I was hoping I could get some more good ideas! I'm looking for something about the air war in the Pacific during World War II, specifically Navy carrier aviation.

 My personal favorite is Unbroken... Compelling Story.

The Dauntless Dive Bomber of World War II by Barrett Tillman

I have another in my library but I have to find it...a more comprehensive perspective on Naval aviation...I'll post the title tomorrow.

I just finished The Forever War by Joe Haldeman.

Word is they are making a hollywood film out of it.

The premise is pretty unique.  Get enlisted to fight on the other side of the galaxy and due to Einstein's law of relativity by the time your tour is over hundreds of years have passed on Earth so everything and everyone you knew are long gone so the vets re-enlist only to find that the enemy has had hundreds of years to develop tactics and weapons.

Very interesting read.

Agreed.  This is not the WW1 Movie, it is an amazing book that truely opened my eyes about the war in the Pacific.

Hmmm.  It turns out that the book I was going to recommend is also by Barrett Tillman.  Clash of the Carriers:  The True Story of the Marianas Turkey Shoot

Tillman's books are typically very well researched.

Not really about naval air ops, but it does cover an event in the pacific war. "Given up for dead" by Bill Sloan; an exceptional read about the soldiers, pilots and civilians who fought a losing battle to keep the Japanese off of Wake island after the surprise attack at Pearl.  Absolutely worth reading, I had trouble putting it down.

Well this is a book based in the pacific, but not about carrier ops. But I found it a great read with many interesting facts.

Thanks a lot folks! I read flyboys several years ago and it was amazing! Right now, I'm looking for things primarily about fighter ops from the pilots perspective off of carriers. More reading to get me pumped up for flight school lol. I'll check out those other recommendations!
