I posted a mission last night to the Knights "city" and "headquarters"! We launched with 27 B-17's, (9 pilots) and "1" escort fighter, call sign, Ezrhino, saddleing a 51 delta! I will give the knights due credit, they fought long and hard and repeatly battered our formation of bombers for the better part of 6 sectors. "Rino", all this time, was doing his best and managed to kill 4 of the intruders, before he ran out of ammo! Still, he didn't quit, making head "feints" at fighters to draw them off, repeatly diving in on the "boogies" and zooming back up!
Because of his heroic performance and showing outstanding leadership by keeping bomber pilots advised of an attacking boogie and his approach on the clock to the bombers, and going beyond and above his normal duties as a Lt. Colonel in the 94th Bomb group, "Devil Dogs", EZ is hereby promoted to full colonel and assistance squadron commander!
While we have many in the Devil Dogs who would have done the same thing, I guess, they weren't there. We have some outstanding fighter jocks, PoP's04, Gard06, Dehawk, Havic, Medic18 and I could go on and on.
I appreciate some of the PM's I received from the Knight pilots, as they did outstanding job of coordinating there attacks against us and were very effective.
What I really didn't appreciate was the ME110, who stood off about 1 and 1/2 and shot down all three of my bombers!!! (Good shooting though) <S>
