Six months ago ATT changed my routing to the AH server. My gateway hop to Texas is now San Jose instead of San Francisco which was always solid and rarely had problems. The next hop is the first router in Texas then an unresolved router, then, the game server. My first 5 hops to San Jose, 5, 5, 7, 7, 10 ping time. San Jose, on good nights 10-20. On bad nights 100-116 and Err.
The San Jose router several times a week in the evening drops packets in the Err column, and even though my round trip is about 68, that router returns 106-112 with Err, then the first router in texas 50-54, then the unresolved router, then the game server 54-62.
On those Err nights in San Jose, 100mph principle deflection shots the previous night that scored sprites nose to tail, nothing happens.
I only have 8 hops to the game server with a 68 round trip time from the game arena app. On a good night my numbers look like the following:
1 - 0<---my PC
2 - 7
3 - 7
4 - 7
5 - 10
6 - 13 --ATT San Jose Gateway
7 - 53 --first Texas Router at Verizon
8 - -----unresolved router in Texas
9 - 54 --game server
On a bad night:
1 - 0<---my PC
2 - 7
3 - 7
4 - 7
5 - 10
6 - 113 & random Err, 3-5 every 10 seconds.
7 - 53 --first Texas Router at Verizon
8 - -----unresolved router in Texas
9 - 54 --game server
When hop (6) is good, I hit what I choose to hit. When hop (6) is acting up, I guess will can call them unidentified brain fart episodes that many describe as rubber flying biscuits.......
