Max Speed vs Altitude Chart for 9 Fastest AH Aircraft
« on: June 24, 2000, 12:23:00 PM »
I put together a chart of the max speed versus altitude of the nine fastest aircraft in AH. The data comes from the individual charts listed in the AH help pages. Except for the P-47D, which comes from America's Hundred Thousand.

Its quite useful to compare aircraft.

Nice work Verm,
One question, you didn't include the C.205, yet I've found it to be faster than the La5.

It is an excellent comparison chart...many thanks.

Many of the a/c have a 'saw-tooth' as altitude increases...why is that?

Andy, because engine output varies with altitude. The saw tooth usually indicated a mechanical two-stager blower, which will kick in at specific altitudes

Ghost I threw the La5fn in at the last second because it is fast (relatively) down low on the deck.

Nice work Vermillion.

I don't see the P-38 or Spitfire MkIX on it though.  It looks like those would be faster than some of the aircraft on the list.

From the looks of it the P-38 speed-altitude curve is very similiair to that of the P-47.  However; the P-38 is quite a bit slower near the deck.

ASL the P-38 is 340 while the P-47 is 355.  They each have similiar top end speeds at 25k with the P-38 at 420 and the P-47 at 425.

HTC has not put up the Spit IX curve yet.

The P-47D-30 in AH does about 340mph @S/L up to 430mph @30k, dropping to 400mph @35k.

And your Fw 190A-8 line is way off, oops.

Hmm, is there something wrong with FW190 A-5?
Isn't A-5 supposed to fly 420-425mph instead of that lousy 405mph.
hey, its not A-8, thats A-8's speed and then we come to wonder whys A-8 going below 405.

The 109G10 is "OVERMODELED"

It's an LW Conspiracy!

If you give the 109G10 more stability and SpitIX's turning, sure the MA will be full of them.
