I had the privilege and honor of meeting this extraordinary person back in 2007 and listen to his lecture on the quest for speed during and after WWII.

I am.

I already had it online, must have posted it here or elsewhere before. You'll find it among my videos here:

Unfortunately there are a few minutes missing between each part as I had to swap memory cards in the camera.

Indeed. He is a true gentleman, and an extraordinary person. Larger than life, with a great sense of humor.

Agreed and but for the British cancelling the M.52 project he would be more famous than a certain General Yeager.

There was a recently made documentary about his life which I intend to buy.

Not really sure why he wasn't knighted by now. Many is the lesser man to receive that honour.

It's remarkable he is still alive considering his life. There aren't many older pilots than him.

I do know one though, a hundred years old this year. Used to fly for Imperial Airways before the war. Who says there are 'no old bold pilots'.

He's "only" 95, but that's still impressive. (Born 1919.)
