I was wrong, instead of 70 sunspots there ought to be 150. We are currently 14 months past the solar maximum and from what I have read there is generally more sunspot activity during a typical solar "Minimum" then we are currently experiencing just past the maximum. Whether or not it means anything I do not know, but I reckon we'll find out soon enough. I will be up in far norther. Michigan for a Month and I sure do hope for a light show.

As I write this, the current SFI is 217.   217.  FACT

If you were born since 2002, this is the time of highest solar activity since you were born.

If you were born since 1991,  this is the 2nd highest solar activity in your lifetime.

If you were born since 1980,  this is the 3rd highest solar activity in your lifetime.

This week alone, solar SFI activity was/is SO ACTIVE that F2 and F1 layer atmospheric refracted propagation has had trans-equitorial VHF propagation as high as 74 mHZ.

That is so rare it only happens in years of highest solar activity NOW.  Who ever said it was 14 months ago either lives in a cave or loves writing fiction.

Cool post GHI. I love anything to do with the astro sciences. Carl Sagan was a treasure lost. Thankfully he mentored some of the brightest minds in his field.   I still miss AKWabs pics he use to post.
