I would not go out of my way for a Boss 302 ... except only if it's a LS. For 40K I'd buy a 2015 5.0 that's rumored faster than the Boss around a track anyway. The name Boss is mostly glitter in the eye for the older crowd, and some vague speculation about return on investment, I dont believe in it.

If a track car is what you're after, the new mustang platform with IRS will be overall better handling..  My advice is buy the new platform and purpose build it for what you want... But for gawd sakes man, drive it!  lol

for 39k why not go for a cheaper 2015 gt (with the track pack) that bests the Boss in almost every way?

 'cause i don't like the 015. it's not faster, and probably only slightly better in the corners. and 'cause i don't like it. i think the ford designers brain farted again, much like they did with the sn95. they corrected that with the s197, but now going to the s550, i think they did it again.

Long term, that Boss 302 is going to be worth more.

 that's part of what i'm thinking, and since i'm just weekending it anyway, i kinda think it might be better to have something better than a gt. the only problem i have, is that mine is the only non-ford arse that's sat in the drivers seat of my car, and i'm kinda attached......

 the boss302 is actually a different engine than the gt. different internals.

 i haven't seen one up close yet. i saw a grey one pulling outta a local ford dealer a few weeks ago. i was test driving a customers car, and couldn't take my eyes off the road too long though.

 see though? the thing with me, is that i like the s197's 'cause they remind me of the good looking mustangs from the 60's. i'd say a 67 fastback, a 69 fastback, some modern tech, toss it in a blender, crank that puppy up to plaid, and when you dump out whatcha got, you got the 010 to 014 mustang.

 i've seen videos of ford running a supercharged 015 into the 10's, with only a tune, heavy duty rear cradle, and heavy duty half shafts. but the reports of that gt bone stock are only 13's. that's almost slower than a camaro. corners? i've no doubt it's gonna make a lot of guys that're used to trashing mustangs cry. but it just doesn't look like a mustang anymore.

You're killing me Cap. I just grabbed one of the last 2014 GTs sitting around that were kitted out the way I wanted.  1500 miles and it's already been down the track. Was turning on win lights last night at Atco and will be racing it in the Ford vs Chevy event this Saturday.  It'll be sunny, you should come out. Buncha Ford guys in our pit area including some Ford powered dragsters you don't see much. This years 10.0 index champ has a turbo S197, and a couple blower cars in the group to go with some big block powered Fox's and a TBird.

If you're going to have a car you're not gonna drive may as well be a BOSS. Still, come out this weekend. There are gonna be plenty of ducks to go around the first couple rounds :)





In other news the Corvette is almost done...

Im aware of that, big woopydoo you can redline 1000rpm higher, gain 30HP and lose 10 Tq. You are not going to use any of it and for christ sake 40K is new MSRP price but it's not new. Like I said earlier the name Boss is for your ego, you can build your GT better than the Boss with the money you saved. In a decade or two except a couple of all farts, people will say 'Limited edition called Boss 302? That's nice grandPa ... who cares compared to a GT'.

I too btw don't hit it with the 2015. I dig the rear/interrior , love the B pilar delete but that CD front and light placement ... yuk. It's too Ford fusion and not muscle car look. As I couldn't wait to get a 2010/11 I'll be gladly waiting for a Mach 1 model.

You want more, mod your GT without restriction, you'll feel guilty modding a 302 in fear of altering the resale value that will plumit anyway. Glitter for old folks that Boss. :old: in the long run.

Had a Ft Lauderdale dealer in January 2012 offer $38k to drive a brand new red BOSS 302 off the lot with the diff upgrade package and another option (forget what it was).

The Boss, if left stock, will retain more value than a standard Mustang, simply due to the low production numbers for the car.  That rule applies to any car made in low production numbers.  It has nothing to do with age, or ego.  It is how the American auto industry has worked, since the beginning.

Now, if you are going to mod the car, then the Boss is a poor choice as you will wreck the value retention, as it is based on keeping the car stock.

No one said you are going to make money on the Boss.  Not going to happen, but if resale is a concern, the stock Boss wins over a modified Mustang, in terms of retention.

Of course, if you are a collector, the Boss is a no-brainer.  Very little risk in adding that car to a collection.

my dad has a 2012 or 2013 lacuna I think that's right boss 302,  He loves it, it has 2 keys a red key and a green key.  if I recall he paid as much for it as he did his house :lol

First round win, got pulled for the bye 2nd round (best reaction time in Rd1)

Next pass I was a little light on the brake pedal (I'm used to racing a stick car) and I rolled in deep. Fearing a LB3A I took my foot off the gas as a habit to get the car stopped and the tree started coming down and fearing I was going to be late I just went.  Ended up going red.

Went to do some test and tune hits to get some seat time but after the first pass a pro mod wrecked so I swapped the street tires back on and headed home.

Hopefully Saturday brings better results :)
