The steadfast Junkers Ju88 was by far the most lethal Luftwaffe aircraft against the dreaded RAF Spitfire Mk V...in this most excellent Frame 2 of Merlins.

WAY TO GO FREEBIRDS!

Great work Axis forces.

Too much fun.

Curious if they all lawn darted diving from 30K onto the NOE raiders...   :noid
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The AXIS plan was a good one.

Critical to its success was the single C.202 scout/decoy that ducked in and out of the Malta radars ~7 minutes before the fighter sweep (another diversion) arrived.  That was a certified Fog of War generator.

The NOE raid by single pods of bombers from multiple headings was very effective.  Once 'NOE Bombers!' went out over the radio, I'd say that most of the defense force dove on them...I saw about a 8:1 ratio of defenders to attackers jockeying to hit a single POD at one point.

NOE raids in FSO are dweebish...unless, of course, they work.   :)

Well done on the island attack.

The NOE Malta attack was only successful in the fact that the bombers made it to target. 13 objects and no hangars isn't what i would call a successful mission.

No question about the bombing effectiveness via the stats.  I was responding to Stampf's observation about bomber lethality in the frame.  Seven kills for two bombers (WTG Bob and Kack) is pretty lethal.

In our AO the first merge with the bombers in this frame was a little 'emotional', from the RAF perspective (perhaps).  It looked like the sky opened up to rain down Spits.  Only to find one or two pods in the vicinity of A177.   The bombing mission, in my opinion, was empowered by the prelude (beginning at 30K or so).

I had a ringside seat at A177 (the tower  :frown:) and watched at least three pods arrive and bomb pretty much unmolested.  Their departure from target...not so much.

No matter the outcome...everybody had fun.
