Axis player on Allied country
« on: December 06, 2014, 09:13:48 PM »
Last night during frame 1 I was checking the roster to find a pilot when I noticed a member of a large Axis squadron on the Allied side. This was past T+60. I had the roster sorted by squadron so this player was registered with the Axis squad but he was defiantly logged on the Allied country. I was way too busy to inquire at the time and I didn't really think someone was doing something sneaky but it got me wondering. Why would a player ever log over to the other side? Would someone who is a registered member of a squad assigned to fly Axis fly for the allies but not change his squad?

It may have been a CM.  We show in our squads but it will also show us on different countries occasionally.  Not saying that is what you saw, just giving a possible explanation.  :salute

It could also be he was shot down, so decided to jump over to chat with other friends. Just because someone shows on "the other side" doesn't mean he's actually flying. I also don't think there is much to be gained by "spying" in FSO since all radar is off and it would be very difficult to find out where anyone is.

Like I said, I didn't think anything sneaky was going on or I would have questioned the CM. I prefer to think that it was an innocent event (until proven otherwise). I do believe we are very much reliant on the individual integrity of participants to ensure fair play. Even with radar off just reading country text and going to fields to see who is refueling would give the other side a big advantage. All in all I believe the vast majority of players fly well within the rules and don't support others who may choose not to.

I routinely am on a country opposite my squad when I am setup.  We do that because you would be amazed at the number of players who do not know how to send a PM.  How many times have you seen a player announce that he needs help with a disco or otherwise post to the CM in green text?  As setup, I can't fly the event.  However, my bouncer is has the responsibility to help me clear the roster up until launch.  After that he can fly.  But they (and any other CM in the arena) watches out for issues with one country and I watch the other.  As Setup, I could follow you around in God mode and you would never know it.  But cheat?  For my squad?  Do you know how long a CM would last on the teams if that happened?  I'll take the under on 5 seconds.  In fact, I don't even read the Squad Orders when I am setup.  I have lots to do making sure you guys get to fly, you get to re-up within the rules, and the arena doesn't crash in the middle of the event.  You Fly, We Work.  :salute
