Is this considered a HO?
« on: December 17, 2014, 11:58:26 PM »
I'm not posting this as some sort of ego stroke or anything, but I am curios, would you guys considered this a HO shot?

No. In the MA I wouldn't even marginally feel guilty about that shot. Though 2v1 I probably would've left him alone or saddled and peppered him with mg instead.

Ahh well he didn't exactly show me the same courtesy while I was on the runway in an SBD ;).

I personally have no real problems with HO shots in the MA setting, although I do tend to avoid them and work towards a positional advantage instead. I have whined about getting HOed, but thats usually just frustration.

I ho in an outnumbered situation, or if 1v1, the guy has attempted a ho 2-3 times. At some point they're asking for it. Every once in a while dueling/fighting, you may run across someone that relies on forcing you to break off to avoid the ho-ram. If they do it multiple times, I'll ho them too. hehehe

If NO HO encourages people to fly straight at you to avoid being shot, instead of maneuvering in front of you, it's no wonder they get upset if you shoot them.   :lol

Not in the least, though 99% of the people who get shot like this claim those shots are HO's.

Note your opponent has no guns solution on you - that's the prerequisite for a HO. You simply made a successful high-deflection front-quarter shot. Calling it a HO is simply an excuse for getting shot down.

Well done.

Naaa... not really.  However, if a pilot is going to primarily use the old slam on the brakes floaty flap plane maneuver, HO accusations are going to be frequent.   :x  When both pilots do it, any particular situation is as different as the outcome, but BOTH pilots are basically forcing a HO engagement.  This makes whining about it pointless when coming from 90% of the hero's of AH.

 :headscratch:

It's strange how this subject is never brought up on DCS World servers.... or Rise of Flight servers..... or Battle of Stalingrad servers (assuming you can find one populated that is)... or on Cliffs of Dover... old IL2....yada yada yada etc etc etc...

Then again... one rarely sees anyone who gets overly butthurt or spouting excuses either.... hmmmm.

Glz, just some advice: The best thing to do is make sure the other guy can't shoot you before you shoot him, that way it'll never be a HO.

My ultimate rule of thumb: If both planes have a shot, both planes have a 50/50 chance of surviving. The only time you should take this shot is when you're sure (if you want to improve you should never assume) that you will not get another one.

Quite the opposite and inverse...I no longer play here....at least for now.  I'll probably be back when the new engine is introduced.

Ciao bella.
