Icons at night
« on: June 25, 2000, 12:21:00 AM »
Independant from do we like night or not, I would like to see icons at night reworked. Usually I have no idea that a plane is around me in total darkness, I use radar till I'm in range and then I just follow the big red billboard. When range is bellow 400y, I shoot right down the billboard.

I think those long range icons are killing the 'night advantage to sneack in'.

At night, I would like to see icons when planes are only in ur 1.5k and if able, having the colors of the red/green tone down.

Frenchy,
I totally agree.  Night isn't very long, and night missions can be used to take a base by surprise, but these long range icons prevent that.  I would like to see something done about that.

I agree with you also.  Rework the icon ranges at night

I still mean that icons should be somewhat transperent, even in daylight, at nights, even more.

That would be cool

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

Boot to the top, no icons, or reduced icons at  night has my vote!

I agree, lower the icon range or do away with enemy icons at night.  but to have an effective night, we are going to need a longer one, say 30 mins or so.

I think night's going to need some careful handling.. it would be fantastic to have it used for huge bomber operations, the other pilots having to intercept.. maybe when the new points=better planes system comes up then lots of points could be earned for successful bombing missions at night?

It'd be fantastic to happen upon a flight of 10 B-17s glinting in the moonlight without the ease of radar or icons.. pity these things always seem to work better in theory than in practice..

I agree I'd like to see icons decreased at night or maybe even removed.

There's little surprise as it is now.
