Old 3 mark bench score was 5100, new 8750. my FR  was in the 50-60 going to 40's sometimes. new is 30-40 going to 20's sometimes. Other game I play has a marked improvement in FR. Did you use the Guru3D driver cleaner before you installed the AMD drivers? If not, that's most likely your problem there. With the R9 290 you should be seeing 140+ framerates. I have vsync on and AH almost always hovers around 143fps.

AH2 is very sensitive to problems with drivers in my experience. You can also try deleting the video8.cfg file from AH settings but if you didn't do the driver cleaner thing, that's almost certainly your problem.

Download the driver uninstaller here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

Follow the instructions, it will suggest to reboot in safe mode. Allow it to do it, it's a necessary step.

Since you most likely now have remains of both Nvidia and AMD drivers on your system, do cleanup on both (the tool will have a selection for that). Then reboot and reinstall your AMD drivers from http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64# (I assume you run Win7 x64).

Thinking this may be a servicer problem. I play WOT and my FR went up from 50's to 80's. I had vsync on and for a couple of minutes had high FR put then went down. with everything turned off I get 60's. Going to try reloading game.

If you did not completely purge the NVidia drivers before installing the AMD drivers, you are not going to get the best or most stable performance from your computer.

Your best bet is to purge all the video card drivers using a third party cleaner, and then re-install the AMD drivers.  For Aces High, remove the "video8.cfg" and "world.cfg" files from the "settings" folder.

I just added a  nividia 960.  Would there be any drivers I'd need to perge from the original Intel onboard graphics?

You should uninstall the old drivers as a minimum if they show as separate drivers in the add/remove software function, reboot and then reinstall the new drivers. I'm not sure if the Guru3D tool includes cleaning of Intel drivers.

If the graphics driver is just a part of the general Intel driver package that has motherboard drivers, you must leave it installed.

Thanks to Skuzzy and everyone else for the help. It is running great, has been a big improvement with a steady 59/60 FR and the view is clearer.
