Computer Issues
« on: January 22, 2015, 04:57:47 PM »
Well the issues i am having with my computer are that there is a program on my computer that made new windows/tabs pop up while using the internet. i was able to disable the programs with the task manager but yesterday i rebooted the computer it would not fully boot up and would not load the desktop after logging on.
before i rebooted the compter i had a warning that my PC was running at near compacity and kept seeing the outline of new windows appear then disappear quickly.  any ideas on what it could be

It's called a malware or a virus. Boot into the safe mode and run the online virus scanner from http://eset.com/online-scanner/ or if the computer won't even boot anymore, you have to burn a rescue cd such as http://www.avg.com/eu-en/avg-rescue-cd (using another computer obviously)

It lets you boot the computer off the cd drive and clean up the infection. That is, unless you got a trojan downloader and your computer is now among other infections encrypted for ransom :D

Gotta love windows.

Right click your speaker icon and look at recording devices. Make sure your mic is selected.

Sounds like a lack of mic gain. Reinstall your sound drivers, set the mic boost to max in Windows and choose "let AH control your mic boost" from the clipboard options.

how do you reinstall them
Where to get them from depends on your computer. If it's a brand computer like HP or Dell, go to their support site and find the download section for your specific model. If it's built from scratch, go to the motherboard manufacturer's site and find the download section for your specific model. In the latter case you should also have a CD containing the drivers, but the support site may have newer ones.

As for the procedure, start by ensuring you have the driver installation package available. You might want to try resetting the drivers first to see if that'd do the trick. Go to Control Panel->Device Manager, find the sound device and remove it. Reboot and let Windows reinstall it. If all goes well, that'd be all it takes. If not, read further.

Go to Control Panel->Programs and Features to find if your sound device drivers can be uninstalled from within there. At least Realtek can be found there. Uninstall, reboot and run the installer you've got. If the uninstall fails, install over the existing ones. If there is no sound driver there, don't worry, simply run the installer.
