Imigration
« on: March 06, 2015, 03:43:48 PM »
I would be interested in how others view the recent impact immigration has had on their own country.

Nothing new with immigration.  Humans have always upped sticks and explored, settled and then maybe moved again.
My interest is only concerned with the last 20 years.

Good things can occur when new ideas and invention integrate a society. The diversity card though has limits.
An increase in resources or a strain on them, carefully balanced by governments with an economic motive.
How are questions of social integration of immigrant behaviour balanced, or timescales in which ideologically polarized
migrants can have an effect.  Locally, or constitutionally.

There have been huge armed conflicts over the last 20 years, all refugees of these, should be assisted.

There maybe both benefits and negative to any or all the above.

I'll bet this will be locked due to the politics end of things in short order.

I would say that for the USA, I've heard and read that the entry visa for higher learning/genius immigrants, that a huge portion of great American minds in the last 50 years are immigrants, and become Americans due to that policy.  I think that's great, and what makes/made America great, a beacon that welcomed all the best and brightest around the world, gave them the best environment in which to flourish, and rewarded them with all the better attributes that America had over their previous/birth nations.

That's all changed now, for the worse now IMO, and it isn't merely an American problem.  Not much more than that could really be said here I think.
