Large Bomber Formations
« on: April 13, 2015, 10:01:00 AM »
:airplane: I know a lot of people are complaining about the HQ being down so much and the complaints are with merit! It is really hurting the game and I cannot help but believe that the folks at Hitech Creations don't realize it. Why they won't make a game change by upping the amount of ords it take to kill the HQ is beyond reason.
I am in the MLW arena almost every night now days, and when I am on, we Rooks always have large bomber formations making attacks somewhere in the game. We almost always cast a huge dar bar in any sector we are in, which promotes a fight, or at least an attack by several fighters. We almost are always at 12 or 13 thousand feet, mainly to draw a fight, but lately, we have been getting hit with 1 or 2 fighters because no one knows we are anywhere around.
I  had a mission lately with 6 bomber formations and 5 to 7 fighters escorting! We had another 6 players running C-47's to HQ, resupping, so that is a total of around 18, 1/3rd of them running supps instead of engaging in combat
as this game was designed to do. One of the reasons people can't find a fight anymore and log off.
We, never, never see any other country in the MLW arena running multi bomber missions against us! Why?
Surely the Knights and Bish are not afraid to run large bomber formations against us, so what is the reason for no one flying large bomber formations but the Rooks? Maybe someone can tell me why!!!!

Because they don't have you.

Yes, I'm serious.

Any kind of mission needs an organizer, a leader who can draw attention and people rally around. Even more so with the missions that deviate from the standard "P-38 grab & smash" mission profile. And amongst the many players we have lost over the time we have lost those who's specialty had been large bomber missions.

Also, with less players in the arena it's also more difficult to get enough interest in any of the 'non standard' missions, as the quick and easy smash & grab has always drawn the most attention. It's proportionally more difficult to draw enough attention to a disciplined bomber raid or a 'silly' candy mountain fighter mission. When you had 500 players it was more likely to find enough joiners.

And third, there's also the lack of a large target requiring  a large mission which does not help either. With the scattered factories it's often pointless (in terms of efficiency) to send more than 1 or two formations after them, even the city can be totally obliterated by as little as 2 players in B-29s. And against bases, the P-38 grab & smash indeed is more 'efficient', requiring less planning and flying discipline.

It's a crying shame, I say  :old:

Hate to say it, because i was one on board with "splitting" the strats up, but the central strats with serious AA cover was more lucrative as a team mission objective than the more efficient Lone-wolf or wolf pack approach.

It's too bad that we don't see more large missions as they turn out to be the most fun. The whole point of this game IMHO is to fly alongside a human and work together against other humans.

I will defend Hitech and company as I know they are putting ALOT OF WORK into the new updated graphics engine. I hope that once they have handled the new engine, they will turn their attention to the details which make the game experience great!

What were the past strat factory setups like?  I was a subscriber when we had central strats that moved to the rear after zone bases were captured. What about a combination of the spread out strats, retreating to a central strat area after more than XX% damage or something, will give lone-wolves their chance at strats, but more importantly, after a bit of punishment, the enemy would have to bring more of a force back to cause damage due to the central-rear nature of the strats.

..... I log off when the HQ goes down.

:salute  thanks for your compliment and I wish I could do more, because the large bomber formation attacks do bring a lot of different situations into play. I like to run joint GV and bomber mission on the same base, that way every player has something that they enjoy doing and the bottom line is that is why we all play this game, for the enjoyment of it.
:salute To you for all the valuable info that you post here in the forums, its always useful and helpful to all!!
