Final Score - March 2015 - The Phony War Heats Up
« on: March 21, 2015, 11:18:20 AM »

Frame 1 is judged an Axis Marginal Victory.
Frame 2 is judged an Allied Marginal Victory.
Frame 3 is judged an Axis Moderate Victory.

First, thanks to all who flew this event.  FSO simply doesn't happen if you don't show up.   :salute

I was very glad to see this come out quite even, overall.  Early War setups can be a little tricky, especially those using stand-ins to fill out the plane set, but this one worked.  In Frame 2, the Allies stopped one attack cold.  I had a ring-side seat for that: I was piloting one of the Stukas in the attack that was slaughtered.  In Frame 3, the Axis returned the favor, and wiped out the attack on A102. There were very few "Friendly fire" casualties throughout the frames.

Here is a link to a small 80 KB ZIP file that contains the spreadsheets I used to calculate the scores:

:salute Bino.  I same some grumblings about plane sets and the design.  The truth is, Bino has had this design open for private debate for the last 2 months.  Planning probably took more than 6 months.  I feel the CO's frustration.  When I was a CO, I used to always complain to the squad (and our member CMs) about the planes or the missions.  When you start writting the Orders as a CIC, you realize: "Wait, I an dancing when someone else called the tune. . ."  If you ever get to be a CM, you realize how every little detail has been agonized over and debated.  When I became a CM and for the first time saw the entire framework laid out before me...I went and publicly apologized to my squad and Repoman and Mystic (our resident CMs).

Well done Bino for all your hard work and for a fun filled 3 Fridays!

I appreciate all involved and all the hard work put into FSO as well as all of the events. I have a blast in just about every event I fly and realize it takes a lot to put it all together. So thanks for all you guys do ! I think that I can speak for all of The Unforgiven when I say that. Some of us gripe about the rides we are put in once in a while but we usually shine when we are put in a less desirable ride. So with that said...Just get in the plane and roll the mission!!! :airplane:

Want to give kudos where kudos are well deserved.  This setup finally gave the FSO community some large battles.  The limited targets (2) to defend and attack allowed the CICs to plan missions with enough resources to scout, layered defense, deception operations etc etc.  Generally this allowed for about 30-40 pilots per target or objective.  I hope that the planners of the future setups will use this past setup as an example of how to do it.

That was a great event. If nothing else it showed how much fun you can have in a P 40C.
