I know that all of us who love this game would like to see a better retention rate of people who "try" out Aces high as a form of entertainment!
Maybe when a new player signs on for a trail, he could be given some prompts to enhance his "trail" in here.
My suggestion would be: Have a window come up to tell him of going to the "off-line" arena, where he can try out the various aspects of the game, fly some aircraft, drive some tanks, etc.
While he is in the "off-line" arena, another window would come up, introducing him to the training staff. Then another window would come up and explain how to set up his radio's.
When he clicks on a aircraft or what ever, have a audible voice in his ear or on his speakers explain how to operate the equipment he has chosen, or if no speakers or headset, then a crawl at the bottom of the screen to assist him in enjoying his try at flying or what ever!
Have some volunteers who are willing to have a "newbies" name sent to them, in the interest of introducing them to an experienced player who can assist them when they come into a active arena!
I know when I came into this game about 6 years ago, even though I was an experienced pilot and could fly, there were so many things about this game that if it had not been for "Oddcaf" taking me under his wing the first week I was here, it would have taken me a year, I guess, to learn all the little things which make the game more enjoyable to play. Example: how to set up your "hat" switch, if you have a stick to start with. How to program your key board, and or switches on your stick and so and so forth.
we have some excellent training pages in here now, but they don't cover everything and it is a lot easier to compendia if you have someone experienced telling you about the various things which you need to know to enjoy this great game!
