I use mouse view for gunning and being a zipper head (tanker) only. I leave my joystick out of it unless I'm piloting - and then I use mouseview when flying bombers.

Don't think I've ever used mouse views once.

When not using TrackIR in the cockpit, I tend to use F3, F8 and my hat switch to pan my view around.

This for me too.

Maybe Hitech should have asked this?

How many of you are left handed and use the mouse on the left of your keyboard for mouse views while flying and shooting with the joystick in your right hand? Or utilize mouse view in that manner as a right hander?

TrackIR came from the medical industry so that incapacitated PC users could use their head as their mouse. Mouse view once you trained yourself to it, is almost as good as TrackIR. Better than a hat switch. A poor mans TR.

I use the mouse for gun turret and manned guns and GV. All of which I'm just as good with my joystick. The mouse in those positions is easier to make very fine control motions opposed to fighting your joystick.

I use mouse views like that all the time in conjunction with hat views

Mouse Views:

Bomber Gunner External View : Exclusively use mouse
Fighter Internal View (non-combat): In co-ordination with keypad views to assist in scanning for targets, also verifying gauges/indicators (my wheels are still down!  :bhead)
Ground Vehicles: 60% of the time for course view changes; switch to joystick for fine tuning range.

All Manned guns used a combination of joystick and mouse views.

Why the survey HiTech?
