Water pump

I need a new waterpump for my ranger. I never thought about it much before but is there any difference that I can tell ahead of time between the available pumps? Its worth money if I don't have to replace it again but I don't know how to tell if one is better than another.

Link doesn't work for me. But as long as you aren't paying stealership price it is a good deal. I just did mine too. $175 at the dealer, about $130 online for mopar, spent $57 on what seemed a good duralast one at autostoned. If you have a heater pipe in it, but the $10 replacement pipe, at least if you live in the salt belt. Well worth it. Incompatible metals=impossible removal. And may as well do the fan clutch if you have one, along with the serp if it has lengthwise cracks.
Basically no matter what you look up, there will be good and bad on it. Do what feels comfortable. Truth through attrition.
Good luck. I also highly recommend a box of disposable exam gloves, powder free nitrile is awesome. Use these any time you are under the vehicle. They also work nicely to protect your cuts you will get when the fan clutch breaks free. Also keeps the blood in....

Thanks for the reply, the link goes to a Murray Temperature Control pump from O'reilly Auto Parts described as new not reman and it costs 32.99. Looking online at the dealer near by, a Motorcraft runs 101.00. Seems like 32.99 is too cheap and 101.00 is overpriced. Gonna do the belts hoses, thinking about an electric fan but definitely new fanclutch if not. (the original is 29 years old and the engine blew a head gasket.)

 From multiple 'excursions' into waterpump land..do NOT buy if plastic/nylon impeller.....all metal, all the way.
                              Now as to 'composite' radiators...just don't.
