Well I had a surprisingly good day the other day. I knew about two weeks in advance that my wife was dragging me to Flower Mound to her friend's birthday party at her dad's house.

Anyway, we get there and I'm bored as hell. Typical gathering of nurses in a house so huge and expensive I'm afraid to sit down for fear I might break something in this museum that they somehow keep spotless with a set of 8 year old triplets. I start talking to the home owner and mention that I majored in military history in college. He says "I bet you would like to meet my dad". Turns out he had moved in after the death of his wife. After we talked for about an hour I left with this.

Col. Jim Ryan served in Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller, and flew many other fighters such as the A7, F104, F111, F100, and F86. He also helped train the Luftwaffe pilots in the F104. A great guy and I am extremely proud I had the privilege of meeting the gentleman.
The book is a good read if a bit short. I highly recommend it.
