Any idea why the "Show unread posts since last visit." shows up empty after several hours without visiting the forum?  It works sometimes but it is empty maybe 1/3 of the time even overnight.

If you clear your cookies, that will cause that to reset.  It depends on information in a cookie on your computer.

No, cookie clearing but it must be my firefox since no one else is reporting the problem.

I do no think many people use it.  It could be broken.

You can try resetting Firefox. Prepare for reinstalling or re-enabling some add-ons. Bookmarks and passwords should not be removed in the process, but in case that happens (I've seen that once), they can be found in the Old Firefox Data folder. Thorough instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Firefox is basically a good choice, at least much better than IE, just a little maintenance every now and then.

This is getting weird.

Bizman I did a reset on firefox yesterday as per your link.  Same problem this morning.  No unread post.

I turn the computer off at night.  That must have something to do with it since the unread post works in the day time.

Hmm... Do you usually turn your computer off or just let it sleep? In my bag of tricks a reboot is always the first to be tried. Sleep mode and hibernation have got better during the years and decades, but they still can cause strange issues.

Good practice, IMO. It lets a regular household computer do some maintenance and such. Servers and other professionally used computers are different animals and their users know how to maintain their gear in order to keep them going 24/7.

And although this little question and answer game didn't reveal us the culprit to your problem, we now have ruled out a couple of candidates.
