Should the words, "...more powerful ..." be removed from AH WiKi on the P-38L?

Although the statement is accurate for the engines, and during the war as a field set, it was not approved by powers to be during the war and AH.

Development

The P-38L was produced in two blocks, with a total of 3,923 being built. The P-38L-1-LO block marked the installation of the more powerful Allison V-1710-111/113 engines, but was otherwise similar to the P-38J-25. 1,290 L-1-LOs were produced.

My reason, as you yourself pointed out, is that it's an accurate statement.  It refers to the engine. The problem you imagine doesn't exist.

Was the engine HP rating installed on the P38L higher than the J?

The statement is only accurate for the engine Allison designed not the engine installed in the L.

No Randy, but I think the changes really was in the airframe itself! The "J" has always, and was then a better air to air fighter than the "L", but the bigger engines provided for better air to ground attacks and I think the "L" had better armor plate protection for the pilot! I never flew the real 38, but always wanted to, just never had the chance.

That doesn't seem to be the consensus of the P-38 pilots in the PTO that flew both the P-38J and P-38Ls, especially after some squadrons with the P-38L that received G-suits towards the end of the war.
