Agreed , killing a main battle tank from second half of ww2 with .50 cal or even 20mm where very uncommon.
They could damage individual parts like track or engine or individual crew-members though.
An 23mm Il2 would penetrate top armour if they had close to 90 degree angle on it only IRL.
German attack planes would almost always go for the soft targets so tanks could not refuel/re ammo because it was much easier and made the tanks stop their advance. Only with bombs/rockets could they get any hope of killing them except the 37mm Stuka.

A more granular GV damage model is much needed IMO.

This would be very helpful.  Even the 20mm armed stukas had many tank kills to their credit through strafing. They were particularly good at rupturing then setting fire to the T34's fuel tanks; something that isn't currently possible in AH.  IMO fire and the effects of heat (cooking the crew, setting off ammo stores, etc) is the top of the list of death dealing methods that isn't modeled in the current version of aces high; fingers crossed for its inclusion in the upcoming version.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

It would be nice for someone to take the pintle/coaxial MG's on a tank and drive it while someone else focuses work inside the main turret. Same for AAA platforms and even the M3/SdKfz guns while someone else drives.

You think maybe one man per tank is an executive decision to err on the side of having more targets for tankers to shoot at? A wirbel or osti off the end of a runway with the pintle and main gun manned would be that much more destructive to aircraft but, one less GV participating in the GV assault of that location.

You can still have the one-man crew if you want imo, just shift between positions, just a bit less effective.
You do not share the nervous system within the tank with that simple change.
