Yes, but there are different arenas.  Currently beta arena is the only online mission arena, but there is much more to be explored elsewhere also...  :x

To be fair to mr and mrs ai pilot they do provide a much tougher opponent than your average AH er.  So it is a useful training tool.

Well, some things we will have to wait and see.  I enjoyed our little tussle yesterday  :salute  I was fortunate to have 2 vs 1 odds against your Nik2.  Added factor it was Bacon8tr  :salute and it allowed me to concentrate on Capturing the Flag.  Unfortunate that I didn't know what to do. :rofl

So, for now, Capture the Flag arena is the closest to the current Main Arena concept: fly anywhere, capture bases, blow stuff up, yada... yada....  But until we have a large number of participants, the "fight" would most likely resemble activity in Early War Arena.

Still, there are no flies on the beta arena, with AI included missions, and 3 or 4 online players in the mix, the fighting can get interesting.  The final point, HiTech has not revealed what Main Arena play will be.  From what I have seen from all of the advances and testing (which is the point of alpha to debug "new" coad) we will definitely get much more than just shiny new environment to insert cartoon pilots into.

So until the release, the golden rule is there is NO comparison to any finished product, as we are merely catching glimpses of the result of countless hours of development and have no clue (besides inclusion of the word "alpha"), how far along in development the process is.  And YES, logging in and fighting other pilots does help to find bugs and test environments.   So, the best of both worlds in my opinion.
