Alternative to HQ dropping radar
« on: August 01, 2015, 09:17:24 PM »
Make only one change. Instead a destroyed HQ dropping radar coverage, have it drop town ack.
That still leaves the HQ as a very lucrative target, without making it more difficult to find a fight.

There are several such ideas floating around.
My favorite is that a broken HQ stops all supply convoys to the country. Pretty significant on strategic level for the win-the-war players and low impact on the furballers and casual players.

Lots of alternatives to the dar going down:

The two you guys just mentioned
country-wide auto ack disabled (my favorite)
base taking disabled
town downtime increased
resupply time increased
perk plane cost increased
etc

Hopefully HTC comes up with an alternative.  Regardless of how long darbars are down, it's not good for gameplay.

A new alternative reward for one country destroying an opposing country's HQ would be the attacking country would receive a one hour of free perked rides.

This would keep gameplay going with a defending country putting up a more solid defense to deny the attacking country's plane. No interruption of countrywide radar loss to keep the local battles going with no complaining.

I would say lower the cost of the 163 so even a NEWB with 30 perkies can up one to help in the defense of a HQ strat raider.

I think the HQ should represent some sort of command and control target.

I dint see why it's attrition goes from full dar to " lights out" it could be made a lot harder have more objects and remove enemy dot dar / freindly dot dar/ enemy dar bar/ freindly dar bar both gradually with respect to range and type.

Equally I like Bozons idea of having it linked to local convoy rates.

I have never under stood why a non capturable gv field is not placed right next to the HQ providing both re supply and radar coverage.

For the rest it's really about down time v game play. So the down time arena setting should be defaulting to a shorter value such that HT etc do not have to manually reset every time.

There is an SEA setting where dar bar/radar is only visible to those in the tower. What about implementing that when the HQ goes down? otherwise, i don't think there is a game setting that only enables dar/bar on a local level for the immediate base and sector you take off from. I should think that with an HQ down, country wide coordination should be disrupted - but not so much on the local level with a functioning field radar.

I also like reducing/halting the resupply chain to friendly bases.

+1 to the bolded part.

Also, in the spirit of using stuff that's already there, isn't there a setting for how often it updates?  Maybe have it update less often when the HQ's down?

That's if they're going to keep HQ's consequence radar related in the future.
