We need the stats posted on how many maps are won by the different chess pieces.   I only fly Knights due to my squad but it seems we win the least maps.  If thats the case, I suspect a player that jumps around would notice whatever difference in game play causes that result.

The rooks are a combination of both sides. Where players feel a little more involved in the overall war aspect and understand the war game better. They attract both the dog fighters and base takers from the bish and knights who get tired of either side. A lot of vet tankers and squads choose the rooks because they are little more concerned with the war effort, but also indulge in the furballing here and there.

My 2 cents: I think the Rooks can be further parsed by the time of day.  Going by EST, the morning guys 6-9 am are a fun bunch, with a significant number from Europe and Asia/Pacific.  They are entertaining to talk with, skilled, but are looking to maximize their gaming value by hunting for fights or defending Bish take attempts.  Not so much base taking, which is understandable when there are only 8 of us in flight.  As the morning changes to mid day and early afternoon, there might be some base taking, but you can be sure that we're doing everything we can to maximize contact with the other countries, be it sneaks, base attempts, or just trying to find a fight or defend.  From late afternoon on, you will see more base taking attempts, but still see quality furballing opportunities.

I'd say the funnest time I have in the morning is defending against predictable attempts by Joker and his mob.  But likewise some mornings it's tough to get any base taking going due to the hordes.

Besides the names, all three sides are exactly the same.

It cracks me up that players still think otherwise.

Keep laughing.  There are no Pigs on the Bishop or Rooks. :aok

We just captured A236 on Compello via stealth carrier, with an Invasion of Tarawa scale of force. 8 or 9 LVTs, 10+ air, fully manned boat guns. After that, the plan was to take 215 and 243, but 2/3 of the force landed and left for the week-long spawncamp at 85 or other fruitless ventures, leaving the remainder to get chewed up by defense. Whole assault lasted maybe 15 minutes, with guys reupping for the other two bases prior to capture, then nothing. NOTHING. Designated Goon pilots disappeared, GV corps didn't go to 243 while the VH was downed 30 seconds before capture of 236, fighter CAP didn't come out and climb. It was as if the team mentality was "Ok, 236 is ours, don't gotta worry about nothing no more, we's done here."

All this after 2 guys spoiled the stealth by upping off the boat against 14 people saying not to do it. It's almost as if a little over half of the players on Knights at any given time are afraid to participate in base captures, set up a Command structure and receive/follow orders, do anything other than furball, or do anything other than sit at a spawncamp that's been active for 5+ days. What gives?

Maybe if President Pipz said something here and there to motivate the troops, they might not be afraid to move forward.  :devil

Knights are silly. Fly Bish and shoot knights. Oh and snail man was president but the mindless twerps spoke loud and they elected the Antichrist.  :old:

Oh I don't know, occasionally I'll reach out to some of my Rook friends when they are getting mobbed by the Bishops and let them know the Knit they see over their field killing Bish is me....and I come in peace.  I've fought side by side with them and no Rooks even tried to shoot at me.  :aok   Quite fun actually cause you still need to keep half an eye on them.

That said the very next sortie I could be over a different Rook field killing/being killed by them.

Back in the Airwarrior days there would be times that one or two of the other side 38 fans and wing up against the crowd on the third side.  If we were still standing at the end, then we'd do our best to shoot each other.

Who cares as long as you are having fun.  Those who get so wrapped up in chess piece loyalty miss out on getting to know lots of good folks.  It's thier choice of course.

I have never been able to get into the conquest part of the game myself as it so often involves not engaging in cartoon combat with other players.  But that's just me.

I know a lot of players from the other sides.  I am only loyal to the pigs, well except during FSO when i switch to C-Hawks.

it is noticeable.  Knights have a lot of old tarts that can join up when they want but mostly settle in comfortable roles of lite fare map defense.  they also have a lot of solidified dwerp squads that will stay flocked like sheep.  The persistent culture is one where few will lead and fewer will be ambitious enough to want to attack. They do have pulses of greatness, punctuated by masterful pick and run swarms coupled with battle hungry skilled veterans. But they lack the leadership or respect for leadership that leads to continued organization to the end.  It does not help the team is full of fighter jocks but the lack of enthusiasm towards trying to regularly attack together is the larger problem.  I blame it on a failure to embrace the mission editor years ago.  but the downfall of the knights began long before Jaros revolution.  Many bish and rook styles were once knight virtues, and simple migration explains the dna similarities.  Observation of many leaders on the bish and rook front explains the persistence of the war effort, and quick participation from the masses insures the success.  Its really simple and the essence of online gaming.  The culture and attitudes have simmered down in the pot and we do have distinct differences in flavor.

Fly bish. Die knight.
