Windows 10 sound issue

Upgraded to Win 10 a few weeks ago, nice system except on Vox in game. I can hear but not talk. Any ideas?

I am guessing you have already done all the obvious checks but just in case:

• Your mic is selected as default in windows?
• Your mic works in windows and the sound bard move when you talk into it?
• In game - options, preferences, voice - your mic is selected, volume is up and boost slider is up?

Something that might be worth a look.  Does your mic have a USB or jack type connection?  I have had issues with the jack ones but USB headsets seem to work fine.

Please also remember, when window's 10 installs it ALSO install OLDER INFERIOR drivers...

Please make sure all of your drivers have been updated otherwise it may not work properly...

You may have to defeat the motherboard's onboard features from the BIOS, unless that is your intended device. Right click the speaker icon in the system tray and choose "Recording Devices." Make sure the device you intend to use for the microphone is set as default. Go through the configure routine to set up the mic.

Windows 10 update was breaking audio settings with each update, until about August 18. Since then the reports have been fewer. However, if you use the Nvidia 'Express' install routine you will have to use Control Panel to disable the Nvidia playback feature, unless that is your intended device. Express install ignores your current settings and initializes the video card's audio as default.

Also, if you have any Microsoft microphone device (a webcam for instance) Windows 10 will attempt to initialize it at every turn. I think it is a Cortana 'feature' to record your voice, or use face recognition for login. I would suggest that you might find it handy to use a power usb hub to 'self-regulate' Microsoft webcams.

I think you have to select "record" for the mic to work.

Windows 10 installed drivers for my integrated sound and I have sound blaster. That caused some warping. I disabled the integrated sound as well as the hd sound in device manager. Flew one flight and it seemed better. I try not to get too excited because it's always something anymore.

Ran into the same issue.... mic stopped working.... switched headset (which was already installed) and everything is fine..... will try other headset and reload drivers when I get a chance...... many programs I needed to reload the drivers for.... this is probably another one.... (Roccat Headset)
