Dad visits from Minnesota
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:05:40 AM »
Dad has been in town here in Seattle from Minnesota since last Friday. We've been fishing, going to the gun range, toured the Boeing Everett plant...I feel so fortunate that he is 85 and in excellent health and condition.
Dad served in the Korean war, 101st Airborne division. He was injured in a training jump and ended up state-side as a staff sergeant training troops for Korea.

He retired at age 57 (29 years ago) He's done very well in his investments! Lives a comfortable life on the original farm where I grew up in Minn.

How much did you have to pay him to wear that Minnesota West gear?
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Hey, forgot to mention, Dad was best friends with Ken Dahlberg, WW2 ace. Matter of fact, Dahlberg offered Dad partnership in his upstart hearing aid company back in the 50's. Dad thought about it for a week or so and turned him down since Dad had a newborn (My oldest sister) and didn't want to risk it.

He said it was a missed opportunity but he's a "Glass half full" type of guy and said he was happy with his working life in the way it turned out. Hell, he retired at 57 so he did alright. Not nearly the success Dahlberg had though.

THey never lost contact over the years until Ken died.

Pretty limited in King 'Latte Land' county, Brooke.
