Please enable players can join, or whatever lets you join the missions, including those in progress.

That is an option for the mission the AvA staff can set.  At least, that is how it is supposed to work.

This sounds like you have post lighting disabled.

Yes, thank you Skuzzy, I forgot to mention that is who I had intended to address the issue.  I should have done a better job with the subject.  I originally wanted to start a thread that dealt with AvA Alpha in general.  If I could erase the last portion of the title, and just left AvA Alpha as the thread I would.

As I remember it from the AH2 AvA arena, some things are set as default when loaded.  So what happens, when arenas were reset for whatever reason, then the default settings would re emerge.  Making that side note in case that option has to made default when uploaded on to the server (or whatever the procedure is).

HiTech

I am almost certain that Post Lighting is not disabled in game.

Chilli, it's intentional.

Right now we are testing to see how we can have an AI presence in the arena to provide opponents without requiring players to join the mission.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to free fly and engage the AI.

Hey Jimson,

I don't remember exactly, but I recall getting a message that free flight was not enabled during a mission.  So, I waited for one to run, and it would not let me assign my pilot in the mission (I think that was your intention).  Also, upon entering the arena after the mission has launched the pop up asks to join mission in progress.  Clicking yes, has no effect (probably your intention also).  Problem is there is no way for me to free fly against AI as intended with the settings that I encountered.  I have to wait another 100 + minutes to try again, and will reply, if I am still unable to free fly.

I remember how difficult it is to get settings to stick and how often they were mysteriously changed.  For example, missions were running every hour; now the next mission when I entered was over 2 hours away.

Suggestion:  MOTD
Only certain aircraft are available.
For testing purposes please launch
from A## or A## to engage the AI
mission that will run (every ## minutes).
Please report any difficulties here:

The missions are supposed to run about every 2.5 hours.

The AvA isn't likely to be a 24/7 staged mission arena, so we are testing to see if we can have an extended AI  presence in a free flight type arena.

You should be able to up in free flight while the mission is running as long you don't formally join the mission. If you do join the mission and then leave it, you will have to log out and then log back in to be able to free fly.

When a new mission starts you will be temporarily grounded to the tower.

If you get a chance try it and let me know how that works.

I've been meaning to change the MOTD.

Thanks.
