Squaddie has a problem
« on: March 12, 2011, 03:53:45 AM »
Squaddie reports films wont play due to a file missing (mss32.dll) which I recognize as a miles sound system file. Any clue as to what is causing that?
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Sounds like he has a mismatch between the version of the film viewer and the game.  Possibly two different installations?

If I download the full version on a new system and pluck the film viewer icon out of my new AH folder and it won't play due to the missing mss32.dll file what do I do?

Did you try starting film from the "start" or "all programs" menu?

Did you move the AHfilm.exe file, or did you create an icon and put that on the desktop? Moving it will cause issues, right clicking and creating an icon to the desktop won't.

The film viewer requires all the same resources as the game.  You cannot move the film viewer out of the Aces High installation folder as it will no longer run.

Yer right, I forgot you have to put a shortcut on the desktop, not take the Icon straight out of the folder or it mucks it all up. A re-install over the top fixed it. Hosed my maps folder, but I can fix that...

Just a quick question along these lines, can you run film viewer with the game parked in windows-button background?  I can't.  Have to quit the game in order to start film viewer.  That's normal, right?

Yes, that's normal. You can't run the film viewer if the game is still running.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.
