Reminds of the story where a guy could not get rid of pesky birds.  Then one of the died for some reason and left lay there after the others were scared to the air, they circled a bit looking at their dead friend, eventually going elsewhere.

She would have been alot more effective had she followed through on continuing to spray the bear instead of trying to reason with it. Hell she probably would have been more successful charging at it. Larger animals get quite unsettled when smaller ones attack them.

Personally. I'd just bring this lady along with me

Screw that. I'd have move to it at it headed to the kayak and sprayed it s'more till it ran away. Establish your dominance and its less likely to come back
