I had recently seen "Impossible Engineering" about HMS QE.
I noticed that not only F-35B would use Ski-jump for takeoff to shorten the takeoff and increase TO weight, it would also use short landing from astern instead of vertical landing (with crabbing) in order to increase "bring back" weight.
Yet another Brit's innovation for naval aviation after ski-jump: VTOL -> STOVL -> STOSL...
It is particularly interesting because it is radically different from USMC operations - that also ignores ski-jump at all.
BTW Harrier was not designed to perform ordinary landings due to weak under-wing weels.
