I'll be satisfied if it's a better film than the prequels. I'll be happy if it has that level of quality and feels like the original films. I'll be psyched if it's even better than just a good film that feels like true Star Wars - which would make it probably better than Return of the Jedi.
From what I've seen and heard, I'm expecting to walk out of the theater very happy.
What I've seen so far just makes it look like a rehash of the original film.
Protagonist from a desert planet in the ass-end of space? Check.
Meets a plot-centric main character who gets stranded on said planet? Check.
Meets an older hero of the last generation who plays Mr. Exposition? Check.
Flees said planet with Han Solo on the Millennium Falcon? Check.
They even have a friggen' DEATH STAR on the poster.
It's one thing for them both to follow the same archetype of the Hero's Journey. But this much similarity is a bit of a concern. Now, maybe it won't be once we actually know the context, but it's disconcerting to say the lease.
