discos evening of 10/18/2015
« on: October 19, 2015, 11:31:29 AM »
Last night there were several mass discos. When I logged back in was not returned to flight.

I usually reboot the computer after a disco. On one of those discos, when I tried to log directly back in without rebooting, the arena ping time displayed as dashes for the following arenas:

Late War, AvA, SEA 1, The Playroom

This went on for maybe 20 seconds. The other arena ping times were around 66. Didn't think to get a screenshot at that time.

This morning I sat and watched ping times for a little while and noticed that these same arenas were jumping in ping time as a group from around 66 to as high as 166. Managed to get a screenshot while they were in the 80s. Also there's a screeny of PingPlotter watching LW arena few minutes ago.

Looks like packet loss on the return trip to your computer, from the server. It would be a different path which Ping Plotter cannot show.

This seems to happen, periodically, with Bright House, but I will need to run a trace back to you to see if the problem is chronic or possible maintenance.

Thanks Skuzzy. I think the east coast mass discos Sunday evening were around 1900 - 2100 hrs CST.

Wait! Does this show xo.net as the culprit for what I'm seeing here? Also on the 2nd screeny the opposite set of arenas have the delay increase. These guys are probably the culprits for Sundays agony. Just took these a few minutes ago.

I am seeing a significant amount of packet loss between hops 6 and 4, on the return trip.  Not actually able to complete a trace due to the problems.  Looks like Bright House is having some issues.  Might want to point them at this thread.

Spoke with level 3 support at Brighthouse. They will look into it and let me know what they find.
