Washed Out Effect - What File Controls This?
« on: November 18, 2015, 06:50:29 PM »
At the risk of wearing out my welcome.....   Thanks to everyone helping me I finally got a Normal file made.   Gonna' take some tweaking to figure out how to make it just right but in the meantime...

What file is controlling the "wash out" effect on my skin as it is now?   It looks WHITE instead of silver now unless it is in shadow (it looks okay out of the light).   I put thumbnails of the main bmps for reference--they're small but hopefully they give you a little to judge with.

TBH, I don't see a problem if this is how it looks in direct, bright light.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

It would probably be better to discuss alpha-related skin issues in the alpha forum. I've posted regarding bare metal skins in the "AH3 Skins" thread.

I can do that but don't want to post in the wrong place.  Perhaps Skuzzy can move it there if appropriate?

Are you sure?   Just seems a tad harsh especially the yellow.

In a different thread, I suspected the environmental map is what gets "washed out".  I have suggested to increase the "power" of the environmental map.  This may also help skinners with non shiny areas by controlling the "power" of environmental lighting effects on flat painted surfaces.

Again, this is only theory.  Does it hold any water?
