Need help with Indirect Fire
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:26:55 PM »
Hello.

I need some help from some of you GV specialists, particularly the arty ones, to help understand how to effectively do indirect fire on a town, field, etc.

I just need a little step by step guide as to what you do if your going to do indirect arty fire on a town.
  • What GV do you use?
  • How do you know you're hitting the town/field if you can't see it?
  • What are your setup procedures?
Things like this. I've tried the Sdkfz, the rockets are near impossible to hit anything with. And I tried for a long time, about a week of trial and error.
I've tried the M3 with the Howitzer. I can hit a town/field, but I have to be able to see it. And hitting a building straight on from 6-7k away isn't the easiest thing in the world. The 75mm HE doesn't seem to have hardly any punch/splash damage.

Just need some help from the pros. Thanks in advance.  :salute

Indirect fire isn't going to accomplish much without some sort of feedback.  Be it a fellow team mate, practice, eyes-on evidence, or scoring a hit.  Without one of those, you're just blindly lobbing shells.  Practice time helps, and then checking film.  I've spent a lot of time lobbing rockets and 88 rounds at the virtual target in the offline arena, and created plastic overlay range cards that I can use effectively.  But it takes time.
