I think you could probably shoot down several planes in one hop.  I had my gear shot off and my entire tail shot off once and not just the control surfaces, the whole tail.  :uhoh  You just have to be able to focus on the plane longer than a snapshot. I'm not expert though I only flew in there the one time for a couple of hops.

The WW1 aircraft have very high turn rates and very tight turns so it's a close fast fight in relatively slow airplanes. You can put a lot of holes in them without hitting anything important.
