I wasn't asking you people what the best WWII video history of WWII is, I was telling you.

The World at War (1973) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071075/ is the most complete WWII documentary ever made. A tonne of veteran interviews, live footage all in a step by step sequence of events from the Nazi rise to power to the fall of Japan.

Not really, it lacked the facts per minute rate necessary to be a very effective historical document. And it was chock full of those damn interviews. That's pretty much all it was. It was more entertainment than education.

Best quality documentary series I've seen. Only original film material, in HD and color.

Apocalypse: First World War is also very good.

The BBC did a series called "World War 2 People's War" a few years ago, though I don't know if was just in print or both print and a TV docu-series.  A few years ago before my wife's uncle died, a historian working with the BBC interviewed him about his escape from an internment camp in Switzerland and returning to the war.
