Drop and Bail Troops - Sneaky...
« on: December 30, 2015, 12:54:47 PM »
I have seen people drop troops and bail.  Then just sit in the tower.  As long as they don't up, the troops continue to run...

Would be nice to make the troops disappear the moment they are no longer in the area (like going to the tower to stop a base from flashing while troops are running).

I have been guilty of it myself.  Shouldn't be that easy to be that sneaky.

I think the better wish would be for the troops to continue to flash the base regardless of where the pilot is.  Otherwise killing the goon/M3 would make them disappear.

Not a terrible idea, I've never noticed it happen personally but I can see how it would.

For years now I have been dropping troops from 18k above a field and leaving. That is, when I wanted to capture fields. Same thing, except I think it is a legitimate capture either way. I think what you really want is to make the troops player controlled, which would cause the base to flash. AI troops are a matter of concern only if you don't have the patience to keep an eye on the map room.

Often times when I first log on, if I see a flashing base suddenly stop flashing I up and guard the MR for at least 6 minutes to ensure they aren't pulling a "slippy".

The base still flashing while troops are running is a pretty good idea though.

Just looking to offer an idea to make it more challenging and less gamey to take the base.

Pfffffffttttttttttttttt.  A "Slippy" isn't a real thing and no one has ever called it that...............ever...... ........except for you just now.

The "Zoneysphere" however, is real and is know universally by all to refer to an altitude above 30K.

Keep an eye on which maproom?  By the definition of the sneak, it's not flashing.  Am I to continually monitor all maprooms that aren't flashing?  Does that sound like fun?  Are the base or town personnel all so myopic they can't see running troops and give a warning?

I have snuck MANY V-bases this way, it is very effective. One way to hinder it would be to have the base start flashing when the troops cross the base perimeter road, or in other words "on the base".

Anytime the AAA has been dropped you should expect it. The problem is everyone has learned to defend from the cons, but then their defense is complete. Whereas the enemy has not yet given up. It's the same for every team.  Either resupply until the AAA defense are operational or be ready to give the base away.

I spent two hours resupplying our factories last night and saw zero help from anyone else. This is why every country loses fields. When the AAA factory is down it extends the AAA rebuild period, and since no one resupplies either field or factory the bases get stolen. The stealth troop capture is the least of our problems and aside from that; did you know that if you are not there when the troops get dropped you will not see them anyway? I think that should bother you more.

Resupply bases and factories.

Resupplying strats takes 4 minutes off the down time.  The down times are sometimes 2 hours.  The supply route sometimes takes 10 minutes to fly one way (or certain maps where the strats are for some reason designed to be unprotectable and unsupplyable).  So the math is simple: each flight takes 10 minutes and subtracts 14 minutes from the down time.  That's 9 trips at 10 minutes each or an hour and a half of doing nothing but flying a goon (or driving an M3).  There are some people who would say that is not worth $15/month, so they don't do it.  It is an entirely reasonable position.
