I know what you did last sortie

Um, just a quick question: anyone know whether its possible to configure a joystick to take a screen shot when gun trigger is activated.  Find it rather hard to get correct screenshot while manvring and firing.

Have MSPP joystick?

Thanx    :)

Firing the trigger is a button hold down function on any stick. A screen shot is a momentary, one button press. I'm not sure you want to take screen shots for up to several seconds so the best way may be to remap a specific key to perform a screen shot and use it on the keyboard or a joystick button.

Its a good idea to film most of your fights. I do anyway.

At the end of you session, you can view them and snap any screenshot you want, including outsides views, all without warping all over hell online.

Delete the films that ya don't need.

There ya go.

Would be nice to have a guncam type of thing.

Or maybe program your fire button to turn on the recorder, and stop it a few seconds after firing? Not sure if you can program wait's for joystick buttons tho. :/

Yes a sort of reslistic guncam!!! It be nice to make it configurable to either color or BW, and of course selectable before flight.

Set up the button (if it is possible with your joystick) to take the screenshot when you release the button - at that point, you've either hit the target and it's smoking/blowing up (in time for the screenshot), or you've missed and will still see your tracers (should you use them) in the screenshot.

Regardless, if you wanted a quick pic just tap the firing button for a quick screenshot.

Cheers

Check this one http://home.swipnet.se/rehn/  This program used to work with 3D Warbirds. Better on some video cards, worse on others. Have not checked it in AH. It may work here also.

Zygote, it's far easier to film your flights once you see an enemy.  This way later you can review and maybe spot errors you made or things you did well.  Also, you can slow down the playback and easily get the screenshot you want.

I agree a guncam feature would be cool to have--especially after seeing those CFS2 guncam pics  :) .  Maybe it could work automatically every time you fire (and be recorded from the correct point of view like the starboard wing root for P-47) and at the end of the flight (when you exit or die) it would ask you "Save guncam for this flight?".  This way you don't get a guncam file cluttering up your drive if you fired but didn't get any hits or good shots.  This would be better to augment the current film system rather than replace it.

If HT was really cool, he'd make it black and white and add "noise" from dirt and dust.  :)

Ok, thanx, will have to map a joystick button then.  Still, guncam style would be better, could save in memory ta prevent hd access initially because i think hd access causes warps??

Oh yeah, I have real bad memory n when I turn my recorder on in AH, can be hours before I remember to turn it off  :(

Wish we had autorecordon button n autorecordoff button in panel where you select deselect tracers, autotakeoff, n autocombatrim.

Would only take couple of lines of code in the function that handles those options?

A useful thing along these lines would also be a way to "trim" films down to make htem shorter  :)
