After careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that I am an idiot.

I am in America though, you are in Canada right? It must be nice not having to deal with the FAA. :)

LOL Mar, not at all.

The two things can have very similar consequences and in fact a few years ago it was generally accepted everywhere that they were the same thing.
Took some way smarter people than me to dispel that, and considerable force to pound it into my small bean by some more smart folks.

Yep Canada...and Transport Canada Civil Aviation is no better than the FAA in most regulatory and common sense matters!

cheers,

I clicked the link and read your source.

Oh, and if it is "ridiculously windy" I wouldn't even attempt to land an R22 broadside to the wind.

start out with a pocket full of a lot of dollars.

This.  My son learned to fly helicopters and got his ticket in 2010.  Cost over twice as much as it took me to get my real-airplane license, and he was a much quicker learner.

lol yeah, even my Glider license was painfully expensive. The only way to make a small fortune in aviation is to start with a big one!

Check this out Serenity.  I worked with a Senior Chief who's son wanted to fly F/A-18s.  Well, he didn't get jets.  He got the P-3 Orion.  Now with all his multi-engine time, he has a career with UPS waiting for him when he retires.

Does the F/A-18 count as a multi-engine aircraft?
Currently ignoring Vraciu as he is a whoopeeed retard.

I should hope so, but I'm honestly not sure. Honestly, though, post Navy, my dream would be to convert to rotary, and go to medevac flights, or be one of those guys dropping off camera crews into crazy places lol.

I'm one of those weird people who doesn't feel at all comfortable without wearing at LEAST a T-shirt and some semblance of shorts...
