Desert War Torch to Tunis Late - '42 to Mid '43
In late 1942 with landings in Morocco, the Allies began a two prong offensive to drive the Axis out of North Africa. British and Commonwealth troops were moving west pushing the Afrika Corps back across the Egyptian and Libyan deserts. At the same time a US lead force began moving east from Morocco towards Tunisia. Despite the excellent generalship of Rommel, Axis forces were gradually squeezed into the Cap Bon Peninsula where a last ditch effort was made to evacuate what troops they could leaving the rest to surrender in May of 1943.
